Membership List FAQ

What is the Membership List?

The Membership List is a web-based service you can use to find contact information for members who have chosen to be listed. There is no cost for members to search or be included in the Membership List. The Membership List is only accessible to Editors Canada members, not to the public.

How is the Membership List different from the Online Directory of Editors?

The Online Directory of Editors (ODE) is the official advertising directory of association members for use by clients, employers and colleagues. To be included in the ODE, you are required to pay a registration fee. For more information, visit Your online directory listing page in the Members’ Area.

Although the Membership List and the Online Directory of Editors use the same database, a member can use settings in their Online Profile to activate each separately.

Who’s in the Membership List?

Any current member who wants to be included can create an Online Profile and be included in the Membership List.

Who’s not in the Membership List?

A member’s information will not appear in Membership List search results if

  • the member has not created an Online Profile
  • the member has created an Online Profile but has selected not to display their information
  • the person’s membership has lapsed

What information is displayed in the Membership List profile?

If you choose to be included in the Membership List, the following fields from your Online Profile will be displayed in search results:

  • name
  • contact information
  • location
  • working language(s)

Editors Canada members who have activated their free Online Profile account can search the Membership List.

What can I do with my Online Profile account?

  • create and edit your Online Profile, which includes the information for both the Membership List and the ODE (all members can add ODE-specific information, but a member’s information will only show up in ODE search results if they are registered for the ODE)
  • enable the display of your information in Membership List search results (no registration fee required)
  • enable the display of your information in ODE searches (registration fee required)
  • search the Membership List for members with active Online Profiles
