C’mon down east!
We’re delighted to announce that Editors Canada’s 2026 national conference will take place in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia! After hosting successful conferences in Halifax in 2013 and 2019, we’re excited to invite you to join us in experiencing down-east hospitality in this wonderful and historic part of Canada once again.
The national conference is the highlight of our calendar. The event typically offers 30 to 40 programmed sessions spread out over three days. For years we’ve welcomed hundreds of attendees to each conference and accompanying local events, like pre-conference workshops, group dinners and tours.
Our conference team is currently researching conference venues. Once we have the location and conference dates confirmed, we’ll share that information with you.
We can’t wait to see you in Halifax in 2026!
Join the 2026 conference team
Want to help deliver a weekend of learning, networking and fun at Canada’s premiere conference for editors? Join the team! Volunteering on the conference committee is a great opportunity to network with fellow editors and to gain experience in an evolving event-planning landscape. There’s extra planning time for this conference, so we plan to make the most of it to create the kind of conference you would love to attend!
The conference committee usually meets online once per month. The level of commitment varies depending on the position, but is generally about 5–10 hours, at most, per month. We’re looking for volunteers in the following areas:
- Communications
- Social media
- Speakers
- Sponsorship
- Local experience
- Vendor fair
- Volunteer coordinator
- Website
If you’re interested in helping to organize the next Editors Canada conference, fill out our conference committee volunteer application form. Email info@editors.ca if you have any questions.
Reminder: No conference in 2025
As we announced last fall, the national executive council made the difficult decision to not offer an in-person conference in 2025. Postponing the conference will give us the much-needed time to allow for planning between conferences, to explore how to make conferences financially viable for both organizers and attendees in the face of soaring costs, and to recruit the volunteer team we need to create the kind of quality event we’re all used to. See our announcement to learn more.
