Dear Editors Canada members and student affiliates,
In response to feedback, we have extended the deadline to complete the questionnaire below to Tuesday, September 3, 2024. We’re also happy to receive feedback at info@editors.ca any time and will share it with our strategic planning team and our consultant.
Please note there will be another opportunity for you to submit your feedback. The national office will circulate the draft strategic plan for a review period of one month before we hold a special general meeting to vote on it. We’re anticipating this vote will take place in the fall.
Thank you for your participation!

Editors Canada has sought the help of a strategic planning consultant, Patricia Huntsman Culture + Communication, to develop our new Strategic Plan, and in doing so, situate the organization in a better position to serve Editors Canada members and the editing profession more generally. The process has helped to inform the organization’s capacity-building needs and contextualize trends in the broader cultural landscape.
Watch Patricia’s Editors 24 conference session “Editors Canada Strategic Plan 2024” on YouTube now.
This questionnaire is an opportunity to indicate your level of support for the five strategic directions and corresponding objectives* for the Editors Canada Strategic Plan, as well as the updated mission and vision statements** for the organization.
*What are strategic directions and objectives?
Strategic directions are the key themes and desired outcomes resulting from the strategic planning process.
Objectives are outcome-driven indicators of the organization’s progress with the strategic direction.
**What are vision and mission statements?
A vision statement shares the future in which an organization should aspire to.
A mission statement says what the organization does and how it might achieve its vision.
