Editor Profile

Amber Riaz

Profile

I work on academic texts, technical reports, and creative nonfiction, as well as memoir and fantasy fiction. I have worked with all authors, including ESL authors. I am bilingual (Urdu and English) and love working on South Asian material. I am primarily a copyeditor, but also have experience with developmental, stylistic, and line edits as well as proofreading for major publishers and developmental organizations.

I have a PhD in English Literature (postcolonial literature and feminist literary theory), have completed courses on editing, and am committed to continuing professional development. I am passionate about issues related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice and am committed to using a social justice lens when editing. Having provided commentary on more than 3,000 student essays as an instructor, and having edited approximately one million words per year for more than 8 years, I know exactly how to turn good ideas into well-presented ones through editing and proofreading. I will help you say exactly what you mean, and show you how to improve your writing in the process.
