The highlight of Editors Canada’s calendar is our national conference, which is held every spring, often in a different Canadian city each year. The event typically offers 30 to 40 programmed sessions spread out over three days. For years we’ve welcomed hundreds of attendees to each conference and accompanying local events, like pre-conference workshops, group dinners and tours.
No conference in 2025
Since the pandemic, prices have surged for event venues, food and drink, travel and accommodation. As a result, the financial viability of conferences has changed for both organizers and attendees. We’ve also struggled to find the volunteer team that will lead and organize next year’s event. In light of these challenges, the national executive council has made the difficult decision to not offer an in-person conference in 2025.
Editors Canada’s national conference will return in 2026
We have every intention of holding the next Editors Canada national conference in 2026. In fact, we’re very close to finalizing the location and will be announcing the details soon. Keep an eye on your inbox!
In the meantime, we believe postponing our national conference by one year will give us much-needed time to allow for planning between conferences and to recruit the volunteer team we need to create the kind of quality event we’re all used to—with professional development and networking opportunities for hundreds of editors, writers and communication professionals, and experienced presenters and panelists from across North America.
