1. REMINDER: Submit your nomination for the Tom Fairley Award
Do you know an editor who’s made an outstanding contribution to a work published in Canada in English or French during the 2006 calendar year? If so, now’s the time to nominate that person for the 2006 Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence.
This award, which is accompanied by a $2,000 cash prize, recognizes the editor’s often invisible contribution to written communication. The award will be presented at the banquet of the EAC conference in Ottawa on June 2, 2007.
Deadlines:
1. Friday, January 12, 2007 for the letter of nomination
2. Friday, January 26, 2007 for the supporting documentation and administration fee
Self-nominations are encouraged.
For complete nomination instructions and other information about the award, see the Tom Fairley Award page.
2. FRENCH WEBSITE UPDATE: Launch approaches
Development of the association’s new French-language website is nearing completion. The national office and the association’s web developers, Biz-Zone, are hard at work on the final stages of the new site for l’Association canadienne des réviseurs and expect to roll it out by the end of the month.
The new ACR website is being completely redesigned and expanded. Developed with user ease in mind, it boasts an up-to-date layout that is consistent with the English-language site and completely re-organized content.
3. MEMBERSHIP LIST: Watch for your email update
Preparations are underway for the association’s highly anticipated membership list, which will be available to members in early 2007. The membership list will be a PDF accessible only to current members on the password-protected side of the association’s website.
In January, the national office will send each member of the association a confirmation email to verify contact information for the membership list. Members will be asked to confirm that their contact information is up to date and will be given the opportunity to opt out at that time.
The EAC National e-news update is produced on behalf of the national executive council by the national office.
