Staff moving to permanent remote work model
The lease on the Editors Canada national office at 180 Dundas Street West in Toronto was up on January 31, 2024. The national executive council (NEC) decided not to renew, choosing instead to close the office permanently and keep the national office staff working remotely.
The staff has been working from home since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the NEC had been considering a move to more remote work even before then. Over the course of the pandemic, we’ve learned the staff can maintain its quality of work easily while in a remote manner. As well, letting go of our lease saves the association the cost of renting office space in downtown Toronto. The money saved can be better put to use on providing more member benefits, like free access to resources from the Canadian Press, The Chicago Manual of Style and Oxford.
We’ve set up a forwarding mailbox for the national office so we can continue to receive mail.
