5. GET INVOLVED: Join the marketing and communications committee

Not everyone knows how important editors are—but we do, and so do you. Do you want to help spread awareness of editors and Editors Canada? Do you have marketing and communication skills that you’d like to hone—or learn?

If so, join Marcom! The marketing and communications committee (Marcom) has a variety of projects on the go to promote the editing profession, but we need people like you to help execute these plans. (And to help brainstorm new ones!)

Some of the benefits for you:

  • Gain marketing experience that you can apply to your own editing business.
  • Improve your skill set by knowing how to apply improved communications techniques.
  • Participate in networking opportunities that may lead to more work, and will lead to a stronger editing community.
  • Be part of a great team.

Are you unsure whether you have enough expertise? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered—we train all new volunteers, and we welcome volunteers with all types of experience.

If you are interested in joining the committee, or would like more information, please email our committee chair, Sarah Higgins.

Thank you!
