What happened?
Our website’s EZProxy connection to these resources unexpectedly went offline in March. As you may recall, our website developer and the national office were aware this might happen when the new website launched in January; however, the EZProxy connection was working properly when the site launched and continued to do so for several weeks.
Our website developer enlisted the help of the teams at our previous website host, as well as our new web host, to find the problem. The issue was our new web host’s security measures. To protect its servers, the web host typically does not allow developers to install new programs. This includes EZProxy, despite the fact this service is used by libraries all over the world to safely deliver e-resources to its users.
The solution
After many attempts by our website developer to negotiate a solution with our new web host, the national office directed him to find a new solution. Working with our previous web host, he installed EZProxy on a new web server. Member access to these resources now appears to be working properly once again.
We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
