Recipe Editing 101
Recipe Editing 101 is a six-week course taught by Melissa Haskin. Students learn everything they need to know to start editing recipes and cookbooks.
What to expect:
- Instructor-led live online course
- A total of six (90-minute) sessions
- Optional homework (practice editing real recipes from real clients!)
- Useful handouts to streamline your editing process (a master checklist you can customize, a sample style sheet, and more)
We will cover the difference between beating and stirring, what to do if a photo doesn’t match a recipe, when to query, and more.
About the instructor
Melissa Haskin is a freelance editor specializing in recipes and research. Most recently, she proofread SingleThread by Kyle and Katina Connaughton. She holds a master’s degree in journalism that included two food writing courses (one with Jonathan Gold) and a bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in business. Before striking out on her own, she worked at Cooking Light and Men’s Health magazines.
