Adele Simmons is a full-time editor-writer-instructor, living in Arnprior–Renfrew–Calabogie area, Ontario. She has been editing and writing for decades, is a  2-time Tom Fairley Award Finalist (2012, 2020), and has won numerous writing awards. She is a certified AWA writing instructor and workshop facilitator and a certified workshop facilitator for the Writers’ Community of Durham Region (WCDR). 

     Adele has edited diverse genres (journalism, biography, memoir, educational, motivational, marketing, how-tos, stage, children’s) in all print formats (books, magazines, newspapers, anthologies, textbooks, corporate, legal, clinical, and marketing materials).

     She is a published writer of journalism (newspapers, articles, and newsletters), plus educational materials and textbooks, advertising, memoir, stage scripts, video scripts, anthologies, magazines, poetry, performance craft, songwriting, and children’s television. 

     Adele’s work history includes: 

• Instructor at Durham College, Oshawa, in management programmes (3 years); 

• General manager at Cullen Gardens & Miniature Village, Whitby (8 years);

• Creative writing instructor at Courtice Seniors’ Centre (3 years); 

• Scriptwriter for CTS TV children’s programming (1 year);

• Workshop/seminar Instructor/trainer (decades): writing, self-publishing, public speaking, creative performance arts, puppetry;

• Education and experience in mental health services and special education;

• Bachelor’s degree (Psychology Major, Biology Minor) and continuing education in mental health, writing, and editing; 

• Worked as special educator, programme director, and music therapist in village of group homes near Montreal, Quebec (10 years);

• Music teacher (various instruments), choral director, vocal coach, and band coach (decades);

• Professional singer/songwriter, recording artist, and musician since childhood;

• Volunteer Instructor for youth music programmes (decades).
