Gillian Burrows

Gillian Burrows has been working on-and-off with writers since 2015, when she began beta reading novels in her free time. During her undergraduate degree, Gillian transitioned into formal editing and proofreading roles as she led the team responsible for the students’ council social media page and blog. Gillian also began freelance editing during that time, and gained experience working with both long and short fiction, poetry, drama, memoir, and academic essays. She also has experience with marketing and advertising materials including logo design and development.

Gillian has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy & English Literature and Creativity from Brescia University College at Western University (2022). Between September 2022 and May 2023, Gillian completed the Editors Canada Professional Editing Standards Certificate through Queen’s University. In early 2026, she will return to Queen’s to complete additional training focused on working with indie authors.

Within Editors Canada, Gillian is the current chair of the marketing and communications committee and the English language coordinator for the organization’s official Discord Server.
