Profile
I am an award-winning author and an editor, specializing in fiction for adult, youth and children, including picture books.
Like you, I’m a writer, and I LOVE IT. And like you, I’ve spent a great deal of precious time producing works that I desperately hoped others would want to read. I know that your writing matters to you and so does its future, and in this competitive industry, you don’t want to show up at the party with anything less than your very best.
With over twenty years of experience and university education in the writing, editing, and publishing industry, I understand both the heart of a writer and the skills of an editor. In addition to my writing and publishing experience, I also am an English tutor, a writing instructor, a playwright/director, and a proofreader for large publishing houses in Canada and the US, so you can be sure that language and style matter to me as much as they do to the editors that are going to be reading your manuscripts.
Children’s literature is my first love. I’m the author of sixteen books for children and teens, published with major publishing houses in Canada, the USA, and Korea. Those books have won awards, been translated into fifteen different languages, and appeared in McDonald’s Happy Meals across Canada (which, sadly, might be the thing my friends and family get most excited about). But I’m pretty attached to grown-up books, too, so if you’ve got a story for the more sophisticated crowd, I’m happy to help with it and, in fact, most of my editing experience is with adult literature and communications.
If you want an honest and helpful reworking of your story, I’m excited to help you do it. But I’ll be thorough–possibly more thorough than what you’re hoping for! I can do a simple edit of grammar and punctuation if that’s all you need, or I can dive in deep if necessary, restructuring, planning, and working alongside you to turn your story into a publishable work that you’ll be proud to send to publishers. Whatever option you choose, I always teach as a go so your next project will start out even better! (See testimonials below.)
Contact me for more information. While my prices are fairly standard, I love to find reasons to give fellow writers a break, so send me an email and we can talk.
TESTIMONIALS:
Thank you so much for the incredibly thorough and thoughtful work you’ve done on my manuscript. Your transparent notes and detailed observations have given me a clear, practical roadmap for improving the story, and I truly appreciate the care and professionalism you brought to every page. Your feedback has not only highlighted what is working well but also pointed out exactly where I need to grow as a writer, and that kind of honesty is invaluable. –CCO (England)
Holy cow! It looks great. What a huge amount of work you did for me. The synopsis is also great! Again, I can’t thank you enough. I love it. I will keep your contact for [my next story] if that’s okay with you.

… and now you’ve made me cry. Not sure why. Because this was such a wonderful experience and now it’s over … and because you said nice things that made me believe in my book … and because you’ve been so brilliant, and I’m so lucky to have found you. And because you did so much for me. –RL (USA)
Thank you so much for your kind words and for all the time, care, and expertise you’ve put into helping me shape this story. I’m so grateful for your guidance — I’ve learned so much through this process, and I feel so much more confident about writing because of your support. –PR
