I am an award-winning editor with twenty-five years of experience in publishing, editing both fiction and non-fiction as an acquisitions editor at major publishing companies and as a freelance editor. I have substantively edited more than 250 manuscripts; books I have edited have won or been nominated for the Giller Prize, the Booker Prize, Canada Reads, the Governor General’s Award, and the Amazon First Novel Award, among many others, and have been national and international bestsellers. 

Some of my proudest achievements include editing Esi Edugyan’s Half-Blood Blues, which won the Giller Prize and was nominated for numerous other Canadian and international awards; editing Edugyan’s 2021 Massey Lecture,
Out of the Sun; working with the absolute genius Helen Humphreys on both her fiction and non-fiction; and editing Megan Gail Coles’
Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club, which was a finalist for the Giller Prize and Canada Reads, and was a #1 national bestseller.

I perform substantive and stylistic editing, and my particular areas of expertise include literary fiction, upmarket commercial fiction, memoir, young adult fiction, and narrative non-fiction. I am equally comfortable editing experienced writers as I am editing first-timers, and deeply value meeting writers where they are. My focus is on working
with an author to make their manuscript the best possible book it can be–and not what I think it should be.
