Editor Profile

Kasia Adolphs

Profile

Following degrees in chemical engineering and molecular biology, I followed my love of writing and editing to a career in science communication. Now, as a scientific editor, I combine my interest in cutting-edge translational research in the health sciences with my passion for clear, impactful language. With over a decade of experience in scientific writing and editing, I perform full scientific review and commentary on proposals and manuscripts, as well as structural, stylistic, copy editing, proofreading and formatting.

My specialization is in crafting compelling, clearly-written grant proposals for clinician scientists. I have a wealth of experience developing Canadian tri-agency (CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC) funding applications, as well as applications to CFI/BCKDF, NFRF, Michael Smith Health Research BC (MSHRBC), Genome BC, Genome Canada, Mitacs, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Lung Association, BC Lung Foundation and a wide variety of other agencies. I ensure that proposals are written in strong competitive language, and that they align with agency guidelines and strategic priorities.

In addition, I help researchers highlight their strengths and accomplishments in their personal and training statements, as well as in award and Canada Research Chair (CRC) nominations. I guide them in developing equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) statements and implementation plans, both in their research and in their teams. Further, I have expertise with detailing how sex and gender considerations are taken into account in research.
