A good editor doesn’t just catch typos, and ensure adherence to grammar rules. They highlight your voice to be as strong and clear as possible, and make your vision shine through.
Marissa Fischer (they/them) has a diverse range of experience in creative and technical editing – everything from the English translation of a Polish Priest’s memoirs, to technical papers for the Gentoo Linux Foundation, to the program guide for the then-called Vancouver Queer Film and Video Festival. They have hosted Blue Pencil one-on-one editing sessions at When Words Collide, Creative Festival Ink and VCON. They have led writers’ workshops, and created seminars in APA style guide. They hold a BA in English Literature from SFU, and a certificate in Technical Communication from BCIT. They have been published in Not an Island quarterly anthology, for which they were also a guest editor, and Sunshine Coast Life magazine as a columnist.
They offer copyediting, formatting, and substantive editing for both creative and technical projects.
