Academic Support and Dissertation Coaching

Every research degree requires long-term planning, dedicated attention to writing, and a support system. Key deadlines need to be met and milestones reached. Fortunately, many of the common challenges experienced during a degree can be greatly relieved with support.

My work facilitates students in meeting their deadlines, reducing stress, and ultimately graduating on time. I specialize in working with ESL students in British Columbia as well as working professionals who seek to complete their degrees while balancing other demands.

I specialize in the following:

  • Developmental Editing (improving overall structure, flow and reorganizing material)
  • Stylistic Editing (helping to improve word choice, eliminating jargon, adjusting the length/structure of paragraphs, and maintaining the tone fitting to the level of formality required)
  • Translating research results for the general public (maintaining the language level appropriate for the intended audience and purpose)
  • Long-term timeline drafting and short-term task setting
  • Prioritizing and planning for key administrative deadlines
  • Working through writing blocks
  • Oral proposal and defense meetings
  • Chicago and APA style guides

Support is tailored to the client’s wishes and their research timeline. In some circumstances, in-person sessions are available in British Columbia.

My academic experience has spanned the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. It includes four degrees obtained from universities in Canada and Europe. Examples of research and writing done during my PhD can be found here.
