Natalie Mcmullen

For the past two decades I have worked as a writer, desk researcher, copy editor and production editor for NGOs and international development agencies. I have provided substantive editing/rewriting, copy editing and proofreading of documents across a range of issues: disarmament, gender equality, climate change and environmental sustainability, drug trafficking, public health, anti-corruption, education, violence against women, and human rights.

I love working with organizations and authors who care deeply about the end product and engage and collaborate in the editorial process. My areas of specialty are editorial assessment and advice, structural editing, and proofreading. My strengths include: following the editorial brief or helping clients determine their editorial needs; identifying issues with structure and flow and recommending an editorial plan; providing clear and diplomatic feedback; maintaining the author’s/publication’s voice and avoiding superfluous editing or wordsmithing; meticulous and thorough approach to research, fact-checking, and style guidelines; and friendly and responsive communication style.
