Profile

Hi, I’m Rebecca Millar—a freelance book editor with over a decade’s experience in the commercial publishing industry. I worked at Penguin Random House UK, before going freelance in 2019, where I’ve worked with a range of clients including Hachette, HarperCollins, Boldwood, Joffe, and Storm as well as independent and self-publishing authors. These days, I work with authors and publishers all over the world from my home in Victoria, British Columbia.

I edit across a wide range of genres—both fiction and non-fiction—but my true passion lies in crime, suspense and thriller. There’s nothing I love more than helping a writer ramp up the tension, sharpen the twists, and keep readers on the edge of their seats.

I’ve been lucky to work with some brilliant authors—Sunday Times bestsellers like Gilly MacMillan, Heidi Perks, and Vaseem Khan, as well as Amazon-charting indie favourites like Simon McCleave, Sally Rigby and Morgan Greene. Whether you’re traditionally published or self-publishing for the first time, I’m here to help you shape your story into something you can be proud of—and give it the strongest possible shot in a competitive marketplace.

I specialise in structural editing, but I also hold formal qualifications in copy-editing and proofreading. And beyond the red pen, I love building creative partnerships: getting to know your voice, understanding your goals, and helping you bring your book to life.

You can find out more about how I work (and read author testimonials) at www.rebeccamillareditorial.com.
