Sara Goodchild

Profile

I am a creative, detail-driven, and collaborative developmental editor with 25 years of experience editing and writing educational materials for K–12 science.

Passionate about science and science education, I produce high quality learning materials that support students, teachers, and curricula, while adhering to a client’s vision, guidelines, schedule, and budget. I specialize in chemistry and the physical sciences but am also at home working in other areas. I’ve written and developed a variety of materials—activity books and interactive whiteboard lessons for kindergarten students, traditional textbooks and teacher’s resources for grades 7–12, digital question banks, interactive online simulations, enrichment modules for climate change and astrophysics—for a broad range of provinces, states, and other markets. If it’s K–12 science, I can do it, and do it well.

Recent clients include McGraw-Hill Education, Nelson Education, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, Scholastic Canada, and Encyclopedia Britannica. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch about your K–12 science project!

I’m also a published constructor of cryptic crosswords and puzzlehunt-style puzzles. You can see an example here. I wrote about working with a puzzle editor here. If you need editing or writing on a project involving puzzles, please get in touch.
