Profile

Developmental and Stylistic Editor

My favourite genres are romance, historical romance, romantasy, and literary fiction. I CANNOT resist a Jane Austen remix.

Services offered:

  • Developmental and structural editing.
  • Stylistic editing, including transitioning to “show, don’t tell.”
  • Manuscript evaluation.
  • Beta reading.
  • Supporting new authors in preparing their MS for submission to agents or self-publishing.

My approach is kind and encouraging. I am honest about the work required to get your ideas out of your head and onto the page. As an editor I stand-in for your readers, identifying areas where they may be confused or distracted. Recognizing the inevitable challenges that crop up (whether plot, character, setting, or pacing related), I suggest solutions that will keep your readers eager to turn each page, and fully enjoy your writing. I collaborate with you to achieve easy readability, while staying true to your vision.

Testimonial

“Sara skillfully steered me through a major manuscript block! I had brought my memoir as far as I could, yet found myself stuck, struggling to make it complete. I realized I needed an editor to break through. Sara came highly recommended and after sharing my manuscript with her, we met and she kindly shared her ideas, which she also detailed in an author letter – a roadmap of her recommendations. The structure she suggested made perfect sense and was the catalyst I needed to complete a solid next draft. I appreciate Sara’s competence as an editor, as well as her considerate, encouraging approach. I have no hesitation recommending her!”
