Hi, I’m Shauna, historical fiction book editor
There are many great ways to build your writing skills including books, classes, and critique groups, and conferences like this one. But there is nothing like putting the advice and feedback you get into action. Figuring out just how to do that can be challenging and that’s where I come in. I love helping writers unearth the potential in their work, while also improving their writing skills.
It can be intimidating to share your work with an editor, but it doesn’t have to be that way. When you work with me, I want you to feel motivated to work on your writing, and empowered by your new knowledge of how to do that rather than mired in a swamp of uncertainty about how to move forward.
Working with me should feel like a personalized masterclass in writing. My aim is to improve not just the manuscript, but provide you with the knowledge and tools to write better in the future.
I offer a range of services to help you grow as a writer and create stories that appeal to historical fiction fans.
Do you want on-going personalized support and feedback? I offer custom skills-based coaching packages that bundle mini edits and on-going feedback.
If you have a complete manuscript ready, the developmental edit or manuscript critique are for you. This is where we will dive deep with a detailed exploration of all the craft elements and how they work together to produce a compelling story.
For writers who have completed a developmental edit or a manuscript critique with me, and are looking for further guidance, I offer revision coaching and feedback.
Ready to send off your manuscript to agents and publishers? I offer a query support package to help you make sure you are sending off your very best work.
Not sure which option is right for you? Learn more at Creative Roots Editorial or book a discovery call and I will help you assess the best fit. I can also create a custom package that fits your needs.
I enjoy working across all historical time periods and
subgenres.*Please note I do not offer copyediting or proofreading. Learn why in my FAQ on my website.
