About Me
I am an experienced and knowledgeable editor based in Toronto, Canada. I have over fourteen years of experience editing academic writing across multiple fields of study and research. I work closely with academic writers at all stages of their education and careers and with various degrees of English language proficiency.
As an academic myself, I have first-hand experience with the academic writing process. At present, I am working on my dissertation on nurses’ experiences of traumatic stress in Ontario for my PhD in Science & Technology Studies at Cornell University. My own work and research as an interdisciplinary scholar in feminist science studies, medical anthropology, and the sociology of knowledge inherently informs my approach to editing and the editor-writer relationship.
I hold MAs in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell (2018) and the University of British Columbia (2015), and a BA (Hons.) in the History of Science and Technology from the University of King’s College (2013).
I also studied editing at Simon Fraser University. I have been a member of Editors Canada since 2020.
Specialties:
Structural editing: I specialize in structural editing for academic writing. I establish clear organization and smooth transitions between ideas by identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and other problem areas and proposing different ways of arranging ideas and concepts.
Stylistic editing: One of my key areas of expertise is stylistic editing for writers with varying levels of English language proficiency, ensuring clarity while still maintaining a writer’s unique style of writing. I am particularly experienced in editing for native German speakers.
