Editor Profile

Susan Sanford Blades

Profile

Hello, I’m Susan. I’m a very nitpicky, eagle-eyed editor who knows APA style like the back of her hand, but I’m also a published fiction writer who would love to help you with your creative writing projects from start to publication.

I have 19 years experience editing manuscripts in APA 7th edition style for the SAGE psychology journal, Theory & Psychology. I edit every accepted manuscript and proofread all articles and issues prior to publication. I also teach Academic Writing and Critical Thinking, an essay-writing and APA style course for Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC. I am very well-versed in APA 7th ed. style.

I am also a fiction writer. My debut novel, Fake It So Real, won the ReLit Award and was a finalist for the BC Yukon Book Prizes’ Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. My short fiction has been published in literary magazines across Canada, in the US, and in Ireland. I do substantive editing of fiction manuscripts for individual writers and also copy edit and proofread for Book*hug Press and Goose Lane Editions.

Building community and nurturing writers is very important to me. In Victoria, I created and run the Wild Prose reading series and host a Support Group (and book club) for Writers through the bookstore that I work at, Books & Shenanigans.
