Background
Editors Canada’s last strategic plan concluded in 2021. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and financial concerns, work did not begin on a new strategic plan until 2024.
For more than a year now, Editors Canada has been working on the draft of this new strategic plan, which will lead the organization forward from 2025 to 2030.
An extensive consultation process was taken to get the most representative feedback possible directly from our members. The association hired a consulting firm led by an award-winning, bilingual cultural strategist to lead the engagement process and to collate the recommendations from our members, under the leadership of our strategic planning task force, as directed by the national executive council. This process included consultations with members; student affiliates; volunteers; the national executive council; branch, twig and committee chairs; and staff. These consultations included multiple online meetings, one-on-one chats with the consultant, an online French-language session, a presentation and info booth at our 2024 conference in Vancouver, and a full member questionnaire last summer.
The feedback received from this process has been reviewed and approved by the national executive council, and collated into this draft strategic plan.
