Introducing the Editors Canada Forum

We’re pleased to announce a new space exclusively for Editors Canada members and student affiliates to connect. The Editors Canada Forum is a Google Group that anyone who belongs to the association is welcome to join.

What is the Editors Canada Forum?

Before there were social media sites, there were email listservs. For many years, the Editors Canada email list was the online hub that connected members across the association. Anyone subscribed to the list could participate in email discussions with members on topics ranging from practical advice on editing and the workplace to sharing job opportunities and recommendations on professional tools and technology. It was also a place for casual conversation among editing colleagues—a virtual water cooler of sorts.

We’re pleased to reintroduce that concept to members and student affiliates in a new format. As a Google Group, the Editors Canada Forum allows subscribers to participate in courteous and respectful discussion by email, a web interface, or both.

The Editors Canada Forum is a great way to reach all subscribers via a single email address. Subscribers can also read archived posts via the web interface.

Subscribe to the Editors Canada Forum

To join, visit the Editors Canada Forum home page and click the “Ask to join group” button.*

Because this forum is reserved for current Editors Canada members and student affiliates, the national office staff must confirm your membership in the association before approving you to join.

Confirming your membership

The Editors Canada national office staff will use your name and email address to confirm your association membership.

If your Google display name or email address is different from the one you used to join Editors Canada (i.e., either your name or email address differ from the ones in our Findjoo membership portal), please use the “Reason for joining” box to confirm your Editors Canada name and email address.

NOTE: Delays confirming your membership in the association will result in your approval taking longer.

*Don’t see the “Ask to join group” button?

If you don’t see the “Ask to join group” button, email communications@editors.ca and ask to join the Editors Canada Forum. Please include your full name and email address.

When will I be approved?

Forum approval is done manually because the national office staff must confirm you are a current member or student affiliate. Once approved, you will receive an automated email from the Editors Canada Forum. Please allow two to three business days for this process before following up with the national office. Thank you for your patience!
