7. NEC: Notes from your national executive council

The national executive council (NEC) met on Sunday, June 26, and the incoming directors who were acclaimed at the annual general meeting (AGM) on June 18 were invited to attend as observers to get a sense of what NEC meetings are like. We discussed various topics, including the budget and ongoing projects, but the meeting was mainly taken up with administrative tasks and reminders for both outgoing and continuing directors.

This meeting also marked my last official act as president of Editors Canada. The last three years as president have been full of learning opportunities and chances to enhance existing skill sets. There have also been a lot of challenges, but I knew I had a supportive group of directors by my side. Thank you to all the directors, both current and past, who I’ve had the privilege to work with and learn from during my time as president. Thank you also to Michelle Ou, Caitlin Stewart and Natasha Bood, our amazing office staff, for all your help and support. And thank you to the Editors Canada members for giving me the opportunity to be part of the NEC. I look forward to continuing to support the association during my next two years as past president.

Heather Buzila
President
