2. MEMBER SERVICES: Connect on Discord

The Editors Canada Discord server is up and running! A big thank you to everyone involved in planning, prizing and attending the server’s official launch on Saturday, June 21. Aside from a few technical difficulties and some server adjustments, the day went off without a hitch! The feedback has encouraged us to do more social events, particularly word games, author readings and small contests meant to encourage community as well as creativity. Please do join the server if you haven’t yet.
The member services committee is also actively seeking new volunteers for 2025. We’re planning some social events that will be greatly improved with a few more heads on the tasks, on top of other services we render to members. Have an idea for a social event you’d like to share directly with me? Email the chair, Maylon Gardner. She’d love to hear about it!

6. NEC: Notes from your national executive council
June was an eventful month for Editors Canada!
The national executive council (NEC) met on Sunday, June 22, for the last time before breaking for the summer. At the meeting, the NEC voted to approve all the incoming committee chairs and co-chairs. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to volunteer! We still have open positions across the organization, including the following important national roles:
- Director, branches and twigs;
- Director, marketing and communications;
- Director, training and development;
- Director, volunteer relations; and
- Chair, volunteer management committee.
Please reach out to Suzanne Aubin or Alex Benarzi if you’re interested in helping out.
The annual general meeting (AGM) took place on Thursday, June 26. Thank you to everyone who took the time to join the meeting. As members voted against continuing the meeting once it went over time, a special meeting will be called to address the outstanding items.
The vote on NEC directors is one outstanding item from the AGM. Once the vote occurs at the special meeting, meeting dates for the remainder of 2025 will be announced.
I hope you’re all enjoying a beautiful summer so far!
